| This is the better solution, because the distinction between development
| versions and stable releases is being blurred these days. That implies
| that it is much more sensible to want a fast development version, even
| if it is considered a (stable) development version.
I agree "--enable-assertions2 and "--disable-assertions" sounds nice.
Eaasy to implement too, all that needs to be done is in LAssert.h
