As I'm currently working on the insets I tried the Painter since your
first commit :) This are the problems I've seen so far:

- Strange Quotes. Look at them in the User-Guide '3.7.2.2' (I just noticed
  that they where the same without the Painter :) still I don't like that
  one side has the head to the left and the other side is straight)

- Figures now have a white instead of a transparend background

- The mouse-cursor now always is the arrow

This is all I've seen right now, really few things you DID a good job!!!
