And gcc 4.1.2 works for me with pch, too. Strange.
  
--disable-pch did the trick for me.  I can only guess the bug only exist
for some sw versions, some platforms, or some peculiar corner cases 
in our ever-changing code.

Anyway, I should be able to test the patch shortly now.
