Pop it up once - position it, and use update->dvi from then on.
How would you want to use an embedded viewer? If it appears in the
same window then it prevents editing while viewing. And if it appears
in a separate window - no difference from the external app case.
horizontally splited window updated as you type? That would be a killer
feature!
