To use the LyX server you need an event loop. We currently provide
this thru the frontend's event loop. We register fd's there and such.
I know and I haven't changed that fact. I've just made possible to
change the event loop to something else than QApplication if want to
create a no-gui LyX server (using QCoreApplication or something entirely
different). Not sure a no-gui LyX server is useful for anything though...
