Not doing anything different. My PB is the 17" 1.33gHz with 2gB

I did just stop using the 1.5, as it won't generate PDF output.
I told you already that 1.5 is unusable for anything but debugging,
because
LaTeX export is completely broken.
But your speed difference to Bennet is interesting, and it would be
good if
you could find out the reason. If you exchange executables with
Bennet we
can see whether it is something on your machine (if the speed fifference
does not travel), or if it is something in your build settings (if the
speed difference does travel).
Could it be that I only have 512MB RAM?
Anyway, I've placed an unstripped version here:

Downloading it now. I'll post it's usage, including memory, later.
Ya, I know you said it was broken Georg, but I'm eternally optimistic! :)
Sorry it's taken me several days to get back to this; had a major
hardware failure, and am trying to decide if I should sue Apple...
Anyway. The file I downloaded performs well. It's not perfect, nor is
it what it should be, but it's very usable performance wise. What I saw
was that memory usage was negligible; around 20-30 meg, with my large
file with graphics. Typing was slower that I originally though, mainly
because I'm not a touch type, and do not watch the screen.
When a key was hit, there was a noticeable lag before it showed on
screen, but it still showed before I hit the next key, and i type about
50-60 wpm. CPU on my PowerBook was about 54% while typing, which I
thought more than a bit high.
