The update is that I now think I was wrong and that the QAction
subclassing is not to blame. I think I know how to code the heature,
but I did not have time to do it yet.

Sorry for the false alarm.

PS: the summary is that my action objects are deleted by the time the
LyX menu triggers them. At least it is what I think.
