This is something I am not going to disagree with... I have yet to see
one real advantage of the caption inset, besides the fact (good or
bad, I do not know) that there is a nice border around the paragraph.

One advantage is that you get numbered figures on screen.

Another advantage is that you can select and move the inset in a more intuitive way than the paragraph with the caption layout.

Really, I don't think we should go backward there. We probably have some adjustment to do here and there but I think they are worth it.
