By the way 2: is it normal that Theorem/Corollary/etc are numbered sequentially?

you mean mixed types of environments have one sequential number? i often saw that in books, but i don't know if it's that way in general.

By the way 3: typing return at the beginning of a theorem does not behave like in section, is this normal?

Are environment layouts handled different from paragraph layouts?

By the way: I would prefer if consecutive paragraphs with the same environment layout would _not_ be merged into one environment. I'm not happy with putting a separator paragraph in between two subsequent definitions, theorems,... . If an environment should contain more than one paragraph then it's IMO better to make them paragraphs with standard layout and increase the environment depth.
