It is safe, but I thought that development in 1.4 is basically finished (except for the lyx2lyx backport and any major problem that may arise). Just tell me if you want it or not. BTW somebody should make a new windows installer for 1.4.4 (Enrico discovered that the preferences.dist file is broken). Georg
