The only other disadvantage of png is that it is binary which means
that it makes it even more difficult for us to distribute patches (we
already have this problem with fonts, for example).
Sure but we don't change icons very often. And the biggest advantage by
far is that we can reuse font from other project "as is". Other project
(KDE/KOffice, OpenOffice, etc) have very nice icons that could and
should be used unmodified ->> easier maintenance for us.
