I agree with him. > I understand that he prefers a solution where the > user can just type in latin AND non-latin characters into a document > without switching via ERT or a layout file. This is not only relative to language support but to any other support, if we need to switch to ert for trivial tasks then we have a problem. > But also on my note that we > have the same situation for e.g Arabic support, his reply was: "For me are > existing weak spots no reason to implement more." As in any other part of LyX we need people who care for their particular and who are able to support it later. This has been happening for Arabic, Hebrew and CJK. > That means we could drop most of our language support because the existing > LaTeX-packages to write other languages are limited. Second we should weight the pros and cons of design decisions we take. That is why the discussion in the mailing list is important, the first and quickest solution generally is not the best, the process is iterative. Do not forget pre-1.2 times where we had the burden of maintaining lots of small hacks that made the code a huge spaghetti we if you pulled from one side it would broke on other (apparently) part. This we should avoid at all costs. > I tested my patch today again hardly and fixed the remaining issues Georg > told me. So I'm going to commit this now. Are there any quirks in the support for Armenian?
