Three people preferred release candidate over prerelease at
http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel.UnsortedNotes#vote
and via posts to this list I've seen two or three "I don't really" care.
Let me put it differently. Does anyone have any reason for switching to
the use of "release candidate" instead of "prerelease"?
If no one objects within a day or two I'll adjust the ANNOUNCE and README
accordingly, and try to see what else should be changed.
RC: Just do it, no need to wait.
I have no clue whatsoever why I wanted to change ANNOUNCE regarding 'pre'
v.s. 'beta', but I just committed some minor changes to the language in
ANNOUNCE.

PS. Here's the diff in case anyone is interested in what the changes were.
