PS just to be more specific:
i do allow screen fonts to be "smoothed around the edges", but i don't have
cleartype enabled
I don't think there's a way to detect this setting. But maybe there is,
dunno... Anyway, I don't think that this new screenshot is _that_
horrible but you are really disgusted by it, there is two solution:
1) the simple one: add a lyxrc setting (a dialog is not strictly necessary)
2) the cleanest one: replace home made delimiters and sqrt symbols with
real one as Enrico proposed.
