I early 1.6 I'd like to have a look a dynamically linking, too. At my (new) place of work there's some kind of 'medium sized' 'pet project' for which I have turnaround times of ~6 seconds (touch file, make, start application) with gcc/qmake under Linux. I haven't checked how many lines in total this project is, but it certainly feels like an order of magnitude faster than LyX turnaround times. Andre'
