What happens if he doesn't? An error message?

Then the parameter will be used without problem because they are not
validated by 1.5.0.

Why are you so reluctant about this? Most of the code is there, so it's really
not to much work, and our reversion chain is significantly less corrupted
than it is anyway.

I think we only need to support official releases, but if you insist,
I will do something with lyx2lyx.

Have you tested the patch (without lyx2lyx)? Any opinion?
