docbook status

I have a file 'docbook.lyx' dated Sept 99, from Jose' Matos with the
TODO of generating a book class for docbook to compliment article. Is
there any progress there, or notes on what needs to be done?
Or, import/export sgml?
The reason I ask is that I stirred up some interest for
linux-kernel-documentation on the lk list, which will probably mean
putting words where my mouth is.
