It doesn't seem to matter which app generated the most recent selection in the clipboard, if it wasn't LyX then LyX will slow down appreciably. If there was already something in the clipboard before LyX was started, or if something is placed there during the LyX session, editing will be slow. (Mash keyboard and wait for it to catch up.) Copy something within LyX (select and Ctrl-C) and the problem is solved. This seems to be independent of the status of the X11 select and middle-click pasting. You can select what you like in any app including LyX and it won't clear the slow-down. You can middle-click paste and it won't improve things either. Have fun, Darren
