Yes, The old version used a package named "cv" but there was a package with the same name at CTAN so that users often had problems. Now we uploaded our old "cv" class to CTAN under the name "simplecv" to avoid conflicts with other cv packages.
By the way, in LyX 1.5.1 there are two new CV layouts available. If you are interested, check out the example files "europeCV.lyx" and "modernCV.lyx" (the require the LaTeX-packages "europecv" and "moderncv").
