It is useful, but it is not so difficult to switch to the master buffer and generate preview from there. We already have many items under the View menu, and a shortcut-only hidden feature is not that appealing.
Just a note: when you're about to finish an article, often you need to make little changes here and there, and immediately check the result on the entire article (e.g. if the number of pages increased, because often you're running out of space). Doing this through a set of -) Browse->Master -) View->Postscript (shortcut) -) Back on the tab of the child cycles repeated many times is just more difficult than just using a shortcut and, especially, *never have to use the mouse* during all the cycle, what absolutely speeds up the process.
On a related note, what about implementing the C-Tab shortcut almost standard on multi-document editors (cycle through open buffers). So, if you want to integrate this, I'll be very happy (and also a couple of collegues I write articles often with, who explicitly asked me -- today -- if LyX had such feature // it was quicker to do it than to write this e-mail ... actually, the longest thing was to recompile LyX :-).
