You are right though that a quick answer from us will not harm, and it would
encourage potential developers.
Yes, I think it would, if only because it makes people feel like they
belong or something.
What could help in this situation is to have proxy developers for different
areas that apply the patches. They could in a sense be called tutors if you
want to.
Or perhaps all we need here is a rule that, for the first while, someone
needs to look carefully at the patch before it is committed. More like
at the end of the 1.5.x cycle than it is now.
