How do you see that?
Formerly, WorkArea::redraw() was taking about 90% on Mac now it is
around 10%. But perhaps Mac on intel was not so bad (the 90% was on
Mac PPC).

I see. What is the difference between this redraw() and
BufferView::update(). Is the later only for metrics?

Yes, BufferView::update() is about the metrics and redraw() is about actual painting onto the backing pixmap. There is an additional step for the painting of the backing pixmap onto the screen but this one is cheap.
