gnome cleanup patch

Hi!

this patch makes the Gnome frontend dialogs which use the "action" area to
hide on update signal. Thus, when user switches the document the dialog
will disappear. I've also replaced gettext N_() with _() where
appropriate. Finally, I changed the Menu code to use new Menu::expand
method.
