Being confronted with a dialog after making some changes really sounds
like suboptimal workflow. If LyX 2.0 can save in 1.6 format, can it
just default to doing that for files that are already in 1.6 format?
This would be a significant change of behaviour. Up to now, LyX always
does a silent upgrade and saves in newest format by default (this is also
the most sensible thing for users/collaborations with just one LyX
version).
