Dear Abishek,

there has been extensive discussions of the horizontal scrollbar project on
the list. In particular, see this long thread, where several technical
issues are addressed:
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.devel/145717

You may want to get familiar with the issues discussed in the thread (in
particular, note that LyX is not a full Qt application) and use that
knowledge to write a detailed proposal. For instance, point 2 above could
explain which parts of Lyx code you are going to modify, and point 4 should
indicate a tangible goal you set for you midterm review. In general, tried
to be as detailed as possible. Sometimes proposals list the tasks on a day
by day basis. Even if don't go to such extremes, try to detail your
activity on a weekly basis, listing which tasks you will tackle and which
goals you expect to achieve by the end of the week.

Best,

Stefano
