It seems to me that publishing a beta version soon is very desirable.
Consider that for 2.1 we had 8 months between first beta and 2.1 release.
Vincent, are you still our release manager, or are your other
management duties still interfering? I like the way you force us to
fix every detail before release, I think this is needed.

I often want to be back somewhat more, but before I can catch up with
the e-mails, life seems to consume my time and energy.
I will try to see as soon as possible whether I can form an opinion
about the current state. Also, I can share all the scripts and procedure
documentation I gathered from last experience. In this way I can at
least support and/or initiate the process.
I'll read the rest of the thread after a good sleep.
