Well I still run the tests that are "UNRELIABLE". I just don't pay as
much attention to them as I do to other tests. Also, there are the 11
tests that are still failing that I had sent an email about a couple of
weeks ago, that have to do with #8035. Perhaps we should mark them as
UNRELIABLE now? And then there are other tests that are failing that I
would look into but haven't spent the time to do so yet.

Agreed, but it takes time to provide an error log for each failing test
(I think we have a feature request to improve this). I first wanted to
ask to see if others can reproduce before diving in to potential causes.

OK I will look into this.

Same here.

I got this error also for the Intro German manual with pdf5_systemF.

I think Guenter's referring to the first part of the email, where I
indeed stated "I am interested in whether you also observe these tests
failing when you do a tlmgr update." I understand why Guenter might not
want to update to something that I'm claiming might break something.

I think I will wait a couple of days, update tlmgr again, check the TeX
Live mailing list, and only if things are still broken and not reported
I will take the time to investigate and report.

Thanks for reproducing, Kornel. It's good to know it is not something
system-specific. And thanks for being willing to diagnose, Guenter. At
this point, I'm not sure it's worth our time to investigate further. I
will keep an eye on the TeX Live mailing list and I will update again in
a couple of days to see if anything was fixed. If not and nothing was
reported, then I will look into it more.
