For Ubuntu (and I would guess Debian?), it looks like the situation is fine: $ apt-file find cprotect.sty texlive-latex-extra: /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/cprotect/cprotect.sty $ apt-cache show lyx | grep -i extra Recommends: texlive-latex-recommended, texlive-latex-extra, ... "Recommends" are installed by default, so unless the user installs with "--no-install-recommends" they should get cprotect.sty. Scott
