I found this package when looking around for a better LaTeX to PDF
conversion package.
You might find it useful:

I also have pre-built RPMs on ftp://ftp.sylvan.com/pub/tetex
I managed to generate a 46K PDF file (where ps2pdf was generating one
that was 5MB!!!)
