Same behavior observed with clean directory.

I experimented further with items 1. and 2. The only workaround seems to be 
setting default color and margins as “Document Defaults”, start a new document, 
and copy and paste the contents of the old document in the new one. It doesn’t 
seem possible to get rid of color and geometry packages in existing documents. 

On the other hand, Item 3 persists in any case, even after starting LyX with a 
clean user directory: If there is “\text" in the document, amstext is loaded, 
regardless of whether amsmath is there or not. Strangely, I do not see amstext 
in the Document Preferences —> Math Options, so I don’t know how to control 
that behavior. The only other option seems to manually type \mbox in place of 
\text, which doesn’t require ams packages.
