I have the same as Kornel. Koji, can you reproduce? To reproducemanually, export to 2.4.x, then open that exported file and try defaultcompilation.
The situation is better now though, at least the default compilation
works and indeed we don't need to explicitly set the fonts. That is
nice. It seems there is only now a lyx2lyx issue. Can you take a look at
the lyx2lyx issue?
If the lyx2lyx issue is complicated to solve, and you recommend to leave
things as they are, that's fine. Kornel and I just need to know if we
should now expect these failures and adapt the tests accordingly.

Since the remaining change of the document is basically the move from pLaTeX to luaLaTeX, I suspect it is related to the timing when the used layout is introduced to LyX.
There seems a switch of document language when the Japanese LuaLaTeX document is exported to 2.4. In the LyX 2.4 file, document language changes to English and it is switched to Japanese using ERT "\resetdefaultlanguage{japanese}” and "\setotherlanguage{japanese}” in the preamble.
Also, even though both LyX has the default setting in Document->Settings->Language->Language Package, only LyX 2.4 document contains a line "\usepackage{polyglossia}”.
They result in the polyglossia error: Package polyglossia Error: The current main roman font, lmroman10-regular, (polyglossia) does not contain the "CJK" script! (polyglossia) Please define \cjkfont with \newfontfamily (polyglossia) command
I attach the converted file (LilyPond_Book.24.lyx) and the original file (LilyPond_Book.lyx).
