Me again, with an issue in the current 1.2.0cvs.
"Math text" (stuff inserted using M-m m in mathed) is saved as
--------------------------
\begin_inset Formula
\(\textrm{m}\textrm{o}\textrm{o}\textrm{s}\textrm{e}\)
\end_inset
--------------------------
and exported as
--------------------------
\(\textrm{m}\textrm{o}\textrm{o}\textrm{s}\textrm{e}\)
--------------------------
LyX 1.1.6fix2 saves the same file as
--------------------------
\begin_inset Formula \( \textrm{moose} \)
\end_inset
--------------------------
and exports it as
--------------------------
\( \textrm{moose} \)
--------------------------
which seems like a much better idea.
I hope this isn't intentional...
