We already support this in lyx just use the special column input box.

Anyway I would be really happy to have a single resource where to lookup
this type of stuff when I have the time to work on in. After the 1.2.0
release I want to add a bit of features to the tabular support. It would
be nice to have them on SF.NET as feature requests with a small explanation
how to do it so that I'm able to do this things faster then when I have to
look into LaTeX manuals.
