It did work fine; then Lars started playing with Makefile.am et al, and broke everything. I tried to track down the problem and in the process upgraded autoconf. I subsequently found that the real problem lay elsewhere (ie, Lars introdued a bug). Squashing this bug meant that I could configure again using autoconf 2.52. I have no idea if I could still configure with 2.13; probably yes. I'm not particularly keen to investigate! Angus
