Nahhhh. You just don't have python installed. LyX sees that there's been a file format change in the last week or so (lyxfomat is now 221) and so runs a python script lyx2lyx to upgrade your file. This way we can throw all compatibility stuff out of lyx itself. The quick fix? Edit the lyx file by hand and change the second line to \lyxformat 221 The real fix? Install python. I forget which version is recommended. Angus (who also doesn't have python installed on this machine.)
