Dear Angus, > You'll have noticed that I haven't got involved with the Qt stuff at all. > There's a reason for that and I'll let you into the secret: > Elegant, understandable code is what I'm interested in.
Of course we all have our own reasons. I am interested in an elegant, understandable and comfortable frontend. One with nice math and table toolbars f.e. One which also allows me to exchange my work with my windows based collegues because they are using lyx as well... > Indeed, I plan eventually to unscramble the xforms frontend code Best way to do this is with rm -rf. But seriously, what's the point of the xforms frontend once we have a qt frontend? > For the here and now, I'll happily attempt controller/view splits > of the remaining dialogs, but you'll have noticed that there is a > considerable effort involved. Yes I've noticed indeed (mvc for table stuff would be nice) > Perhaps you can help me here, as you are the one who created > ControlDocument. Is it finished, or is it, as well as the Qt frontend, > lacking stuff for the Bullets? To be honest, I haven't really looked into the bullets stuff yet; so probably yes. You will also notice that after applying the settings the buffer isn't updated (need to close and reopen the document at the moment). So this needs to be done as well. Of course you do whatever you feel like doing. That's the game. It's just that all this effort on the xforms frontend will be wasted in six months. Do we really think that users will use the xforms frontend once the qt one is finished? I don't think so. Think nice menus. Think handy toolbars. Just consider my email as an undiplomatic cry for help ;) In the meantime, it would be great If you could have a look at the buffer update issue with the document controller. Best regards, Ed.
