Especially that tex allows them and they make sense. I.e. this:

a , a , a , a , a , a

is typeset differently from

b, b, b, b, b, b

It would be quite stupid^H^H^H^H^H^Hinconsiderate in my opinion to disallow 
perfectly legal and valid stuff. It would drive me crazy, for one ;-)))
