That's definitely something that should be addressed.

Incidentally, what you /could/ do is install xforms 1.0 as
forms-1.0.h
libforms-1.0.so
libforms-1.0.a
It should be trivially easy to hack config/xforms.m4 to suit and then you'll
be able to have both versions of the library.
