Are we using pspell or aspell?

If pspell is just a compability wrapper why are we using it?

| Although pspell.h defines to two to be equivalent, the current pspell.m4

| Configuration

| Special build flags: warnings assertions use-pspell

| configure:9448: checking for new_pspell_config in -lpspell

Are there any symbols that I can check for in libpspell that has not
been removed in current pspell/aspell version?

Does the pspell/aspell dist provide an autoconf check?
