In their infinite wisdom, the Qt/Mac coders decided that it would be a good idea to find all the items in menus that look like "Preferences", "Settings", "About LyX", remove them from their respective menus and put them in the application menu. Besides the fact that it is really bad taste (you cannot disable this behaviour (except by recompiling qt/mac)), it completely breaks down with LyX. For example, if one wants to access preference, the right thing to do is to Open the Edit menu, close it, and then go to the "LyX" menu. I can think of some ways to work around this nonsense, but It would be much better if trolltech had plans to improve the situation in later releases (it seems that qt/mac evolves rapidly). JMarc
