An external material inset definition allows you to use data from
other applications in your documents. Most applications, which can
produce text, an image, a diagram, or other such material for a
document can be used.

Then, you get a series of pages that allow the user to define his
template. Each page defines maybe 5-8 parameters, and a short explanation
of what the deal is with those.
