Have you seen spam already?
I'm hoping we might avoid needing passwords through other mechanisms, for
instance the fact that a change in a wiki page is not accepted if it
contains too many new links to sites that aren't whitelisted.
However, I think you yourself can set a password for individual pages if
you're worried about them. Just go to e.g.
http://wiki.lyx.org/SomeGroup/SomePage?action=attr
and you'll be able to set your own password.
