No. The too long filename error is something else (the absolute path is in
both cases encoded in the file name). What I mean is:
1.3: \includegraphics{/tmp/lyx_tmpdirxxxx/tmpbuf0/59_home_bpeng_.....}
1.4: \includegraphics{59_home_bpeng_.....}
On windows, the 1.3 name would include C:.
