Abdel,
I am not a programmer but a "power user" (using Windows parliance),
and my contribution to LyX would be poor.
bla bla bla...
The native Windows port had screwed up the cygwin target and nobody
cared about that. This was the only reason for which I dared to
make suggestions. Now that things are somewhat corrected I am going
to cut down my activities on LyX.
Why is that, are you upset? Come on Enrico, we need your help!
If someone will be interested in a binary cygwin package I will be
glad to share mine, which probably will not be exactly the same as
that compilable from the official sources. However, I doubt I will
ever receive such a request.
I think a worthwhile project would be to add the main feature you miss
from the cygwin port into the official (Qt4) port. We talked about that
already and you didn't seem convinced but I think it is doable. Let's
try to enumerate the difference:
- use cygwin viewers: I think that with Bo's and Jean Marc's recent
activity on that front, this is solvable.
- cygwin path: possibility to browse the cygwin tree (enabled via a
setting) could be done in the future if lyx knows where is cygwin root
installation.
What else?
Abdel.
