typeset documents with by using LaTeX without knowing its macro
commands. But although LyX can't never support all commands graphically,
it offers its usage, so that LyX is as functional as LaTeX."

Consider revising the above paragraph to something like the following.

"LaTeX is the backend to LyX, which makes LyX different from other word
processors. As a graphical user interface (GUI) for LaTeX, LyX's purpose
is to allow users to typeset documents with all the power of LaTeX
without having to know the LaTeX macro commands. Although LyX does not
provide GUI buttons for the complete set of LaTeX macros, it understands
and renders the macro language, making LyX every bit as functional as
 LaTeX."

Hmm, for me as non-native speaker it is exactly the same. This part of the lyX docs have been written by a native speaker fom the US. What is in your opinion the bad style in what we have?

I think the new version is better. If it fits with the surrounding paragraphs, I think it should be used. (I don't have access right now, so I can't see if it works in the context)
