Hello Sevet:
I have been successful in compiling LyX 1.0 on an AIX 4.1.5 and an AIX 4.2.1
system. I used the GNU gcc 2.8.1 compiler to build the code. All that I had
to do was to use the "configure ; make ; make install" sequence to configure
the code, build it, and install it into AIX. (I do use a different local
"prefix" to install the code into a custom location instead of /usr/local, but
that's all the customization I did.) The code compiles cleanly (amazingly,
I saw almost no warnings at all... LyX was one of the cleanest programs I
have seen compile on AIX in a while.)
Because of the local install path that we use, I would not really be able to
send you any pre-compiled code. However, you hopefully already have gcc 2.8.1
installed, along with TeTeX (or equivalent). If so, you should have no problem
doing the compile and install of LyX yourself.
