You must have an incomplete LaTeX installation. You need to install some LaTeX packages like nomenclature. You can find which LaTeX packages LyX can find on your computer with Tools -> LaTeX Information -> LaTeX Styles and then look if you can find nomencl.sty Installing new latex packages depends on the system you are using (Windows, Mac or Linux) Good luck. We were all beginners at some point. The learning curve is at the start a little steep but is worthwhile. Charles
