I can reproduce on 2.2.0beta2. To reproduce, open examples/beamer.lyx
and emphasize e.g. the "po" in the first section "Purposes".
Hopefully someone else has an idea of whether this is expected.
It is expected (the beamer re-implementation of \emph and \textbf is
fragile and needs to be protected).
The emphasized text style (in Edit > Text Styles) deals with that, it
gets protected where appropriate (and furthermore also supports overlay
arguments).
Alas, we cannot easily protect our internal emph style class-wise.
This is also documented in the LyX beamer manual (the last slide in
section 3).
