Hi Mike, There are unofficial binaries available for the Windows native installer, that have been made by a LyX developer, that have been tested, and that from what I've heard from users work well. The LyX 2.3.0 installers (both the bundle and the simple installer) need to automatically update your MiKTeX installation to the newest MiKTeX version (LyX 2.3.0 requires this on Windows). If you are fine with your MiKTeX installation being automatically updated during the installation, you could consider using these binaries, which have been posted by the LyX developer here: http://ftp.lyx.de/LyXWinInstaller/LyX2.3.0/ As for Cygwin, there is a Cygwin binary on the download page: https://www.lyx.org/Download If you have any problems attempting to install it, let us know what goes wrong (e.g. did you get an error message?).
