That is an incredibly old version of LyX. Does Mint not ship anything
more recent?
Nope. Mint uses the Ubuntu repos, and I'm pretty sure that's the
latest version in the Ubuntu (Canonical) repos.
That is...surprising, since LyX is now at 2.4.4, and we are about to
release 2.5.0.
